These are three from a new series stemming from the "a drawing a day" series. I am going for the gestalt of the face here, along with textures and mixed media.

3 Ten minute "burns." I look at the photo, set a timer for 10 minutes and see what details I can record in that amount of time.

Last of a series of figure drawings. Done with sharpies and acrylic white pen.

Guy In Chair, done with sharpie and white out.

New figure drawing.

Doing a drawing a day.  Here's another one.

Flawed drawings in ink with white out. I would say that if you are a perfectionist, use a projector.

Two more figure paintings, acrylic on canvas, 16"x20"

Portrait of a girl and her dog.  Acrylic, 16x20"

Two new acrylics, Sam and Max.

Three gouache portraits recently painted.

Two more faces. I'm preparing to teach a class at the Senior Center in drawing portraits, and hopefully we will get to painting portraits too.

Housepainting 1, 16x20", acrylic, sold.
Hollywood Hill, 16x20", acrylic, sold.

Dancing Woman

This is second in the "Thing that Cannot be Named" series.  "Dancing Woman."

The Village Tree 10"x10"

This collage is based on a story told in "Dark Star Safari" by Paul Theroux.  He took a trip through Africa by train and car during the late 70's (I think).   Many of the villages he visited were stripped of trees; the wood had been used for cook fires by the villagers.  Some villages had left only one tree to use as respite from the heat.  Theroux's description of those people gathered under the tree stuck with me, and this is one of the pieces I have produced because of it.

Seated Artist 10"x10" format, one quarter turn. This is for a show at a gallery downtown.

This has changed a lot. I started with patterning in order to get out of some compositional trouble, and then just continued with additional texture and pattern. I tried to do the floor too, but ran into trouble again. So, it's purple. This is a collage, 9"x12"

3 Trees, collage, 10"x 10" -- I am having so much fun with collage I may not ever paint again.

Final Portrait of my Brother in Law after a lot of reworking. It made me remember how much I love the tactile aspect of painting, dipping, spreading light paint over a toned ground, changing things that need changing.
